The Mrs and I were married in September, 2006. For our honeymoon, we chose to travel someplace neither one of us had ever been before – Hawaii. My Thursday Door is from that trip. We were on the island of Kauai and visited the Kilauea Lighthouse and Wildlife Refuge.

I assume if you are a woman/girl from Australia, you are allowed beyond the sign…
Thursday Doors is a weekly challenge for door-seeking souls (some of us perpetually on vacation…) in search of group-inclusiveness. It is the blog-child of Norm 2.0. Want to see more doors from around the globe? Go to his site HERE and travel past all his wonderful door pics (9 this week I believe) and click on the blue-rectangle-encased-frog…
That would be THE place to go for a honeymoon. I’m still hoping to get to that island one of these days.
I love that lighthouse shot 🙂

The lighthouse was great! Such a wonderful setting. It was a fantastic time, and we have discussed going back again, but we keep going back to the British Isles….!!!

Hi Kim!! It was just beautiful everywhere we went (except Waikiki Beach was waaaaay too crowded and commercial!!) Two other serendipitous surprises we were treated to on Kauai were Hanalei (we stumbled across a sign for Puff the Magic Dragon’s home) and Doug & Sandy McMaster – Slack key guitar & ukulele concert in the little community center! Wow! Hmmmm, sounds like a blog topic brewing!

I love lighthouses! However, I’ve never been to a lighthouse in my own country. I should correct that this summer 🙂

I already have two on my need to visit list: Söderskär and Bengtskär! 😊

I, of course, had to research both Söderskär and Bengtskär… Fascinating and fantastic lighthouses! These are certainly worth visiting, and I am impressed that accommodation is available at Bengtskär! Wow!!

Whaaattt?? you’ve never seen a real lighthouse? Oh the humanity! Well, you go to Hell (Michigan, of course….see what I did there?) Hell is located on a lake and I bet they have a lighthouse, SOMEWHERE on the lake. Even Lake Springfield has a lighthouse…. Okay, when you bring the kids to Springfield to visit all the Lincoln sites, let me know and we will take you our on the boat to see the lighthouse!

I’m still hoping to get to Hawaii someday. The hubby lived there for 5 years as a navy brat (although he was too young to remember most of it). Lovely lighthouse!

You will definitely love Hawaii! You need to convince the hubby that it would be a wonderful anniversary present!

Nothing like a good lighthouse. I haven’t seen this one and have never been to Hawaii, but I’ve seen a number in Maine and in other places.

and I’ve never been to Maine, and 3 other States, but I have been to Griggsville, IL – the Purple Martin Capital of the Nation! As a kid, I thought it would be cool to be a lighthouse keeper!
